After years of traveling bi-yearly and staying in hotels during the world’s largest trade show at High Point, North Carolina, Regina Andrew founders, Carla and Jimi, decided it was time to find something more permanent.

In a quiet neighborhood outside High Point, sits a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival. The perfect place far away from the bustle and excitement of the market.

“We love walking the dogs through our neighborhood, the mature landscaping, the diverse architectural styles of the homes,” Carla says. “It’s quaint but settled. There is so much nature and wildlife–owls, deer, turtles, you name it. We find a lot of our inspiration in nature.”

The only downside of this charming spot was an ever looming ‘80s remodel–fit with a sunken jacuzzi tub and flickering fluorescent lights.

THE BATHROOM

“We reconfigured the layout to introduce the privacy of the water closet by borrowing a few square feet from an underutilized primary closet in the bedroom,” Jimi said. Carla adds, “A walk-in shower and soaking tub were top of the list.”

The design draws its inspiration from a piece of exceptional stone from Ann Sacks.

“We loved the dramatic burgundy veining in the Ann Sacks Calacatta Viola Marble Collection and wanted to make a statement with it by wrapping our primary bathroom,” Carla said.

The swirls and deep colors of the slab paired perfectly with our alabaster and swirled glass fixtures like the, Styx Vertical Pendant, Shine Flush Mount and Salon Sconce. Combined with the fantastic slab of marble was Ann Sacks’s Nero Marquina Hex Mosaic on the floor, and the Calacatta Viola Arches sitting behind the two beautiful vintage mirrors.

“We considered countless layouts,” Jimi said. “Aligning everything to work within an awkward/asymmetrical space with the coffered ceiling took a lot of thought.”

Right along with the awkward space was the mixture of materials, but Carla & Jimi never shy away from a challenge.

“While our personal style continues to evolve, there’s always an underlying element of grit & grace. Old and new.” Carla said. “We wanted this project to feel like a boutique hotel. Something special.”
