Room by room, Regina Andrew celebrates its roots. Drawing endless inspiration from the diamond-in-the-rough energy of Detroit, the brand founded by wife-and-husband duo Carla Regina Zajac and James Andrew Slaven crafts heirloom-quality lighting, furniture and accents—plus cool jewelry—that marry sophistication with just enough of an edge to make each piece as compelling as a rad guitar solo. “‘Live from Detroit’ is what we call our products,” says Slaven of the pieces made in their shop. “It evokes the vibe that we have because we grew up in a beautiful industrialized city.”

“Our design philosophy is a mix of modern and traditional, … of feminine with masculinity,” adds Zajac. “That’s where the grit and grace of Regina Andrew comes from.”

At the brand’s flagship showroom in Detroit, the fruits of the couple’s 27-years-and-counting collaboration fill every corner. Chandeliers, pendants, table lamps and sconces range from streamlined and sculptural to glittering and gilded. Sleekly channeled leather sofas and sheepskin easy chairs meet over minimalist coffee tables made of reclaimed wood and stone slabs. Surrounding these statement items are intriguing conversation starters including marble bowls, porcelain bud vases and cast-metal bookends—yes, that is a bronze-finished skull. With such diversity on offer, it only takes one detail to amp up any style of decor. “We’ve never had a shortage of ideas,” says Slaven. “We’re always working on something new.” To meet the creative twosome and take a peek inside their electrifying showroom, check out this short video introduction.
